Can you uncurl the edges of a knitted scarf after it's finished?
I'm not an experienced knitter, but I just made scarves for my kids in alternating colors. They're about five feet long, and look great, but the sides curl so much they might as well be just thick wool tubes! Is there any way to fix this? Is there something I should have been doing as I knitted to prevent this in the first place.
As other answerers have said, stockinette stitch curls. Usually, you knit about and inch of garter stitch on each side of the scarf, which helps to keep it flat. In a sweater, this curling doesn't matter, because it curls around your body.
The best way to fix it now that you have done all the knitting is to go to the fabric store and buy fleece fabric. Fleece doesn't fray, so you don't have to worry about finishing the cut edge. Cut pieces to match each scarf and stitch them on. Unfortunately, hand stitching is the best for this, as machine stitching will flatten out the stitches of your knitting.

The name Pre-fold Diapers is a bit misleading. They are basically rectangles of material much like what were used generations ago.
